Nokia is the name of the Finnish multinational communications corporation. Founded in 1871, the business has its main headquarters in Espoo, Finland. As a public corporation it provides Internet, computer software and telecommunications equipment to users all across the world. The company has played a significant role in the economy of Finland, as it acts as a main employer and has supported small businesses through partnerships and subcontracts.

Primarily, the products distributed are mobile devices, especially mobile phones and other communications products. The company also offers Internet, including special messaging, media, music, applications, games and other services. Nokia Siemens Networks is a collaboration with Siemens and designed to provide telecommunications network services, equipment and solutions.

In 2012, the business was ranked as the second largest in terms of mobile phone vendors around the world. Samsung was given the top ranking. From 1998 up until 2012, Nokia was the largest. Though the high demand for smart phones and more advanced technology led to a decrease in sales for this particular business. Over 100,000 people in more than 100 countries are employed by this company that distributes to 150 countries worldwide and collects and estimated annual revenue of more than 35 billion euros.

The original phones by this company included a self-titled, custom operating system, which was designed for their phones exclusively. An alliance with the Windows Company developed in 2011. Following that, the company began loading their best-selling devices with the Microsoft Windows Phone operating system. Many of the lower-end phones are still running on the old Symbian system.

For the last few years, this business has been composed of three central groups: mobile phones, markets and mobile solutions. All of these groups are supported by the corporate development office, which takes responsibility for exploration of growth opportunities. The mobile solutions group is in charge of the portfolio of this company, particularly in regards to smart phones, mobile computers and other expensive media devices. They might also handle some of the Internet services that are provided.

The mobile phones group handles portfolio for affordable mobile devices, in addition to the range of services users can access with the phones. Essentially this covers data and voice products of a variety of mobiles. Then there is the market sect, which is in charge of the supply chains, brand, marketing functions, sales, and delivery of mobile solutions and phones to the market.

The official language for the company is English. There are numerous subsidiaries of this business, the two key ones being Navteq and Nokia Siemens Networks. The Public corporation has been listed with the exact name on the New York and Helsinki stock exchanges. The latter since 1915 and the former since 1994.

Nokia is a Finnish company that has been in operation since the 1800s. It is focused on producing quality mobile devices, but is also a provider of services, solutions and other products, such as laptops, GPS systems and tablets. Over its many years, the company has expanded in varying respects. In 2011, it partnered with the Windows company to improve mobile services and devices. The corporation is currently ranked at number two, behind Samsung, as the largest vendor of mobile phones in the world.
