Choosing The Proper Mobile Phone: Nokia C2-01 Review

By John Conner

If you're looking to buy a new cellular phone or switch to a more convenient one, then it won't be long until you discover the vast amount of brands and styles of phones out there. They all have their own specific attributes when it comes to style, type of buttons, screens, and gadget functions. Once you've taken the time to look around at the various options, and knowing what you want in a phone, making a decision on which to choose shouldn't be too difficult. There are certain phones which cater to those with simpler tastes and who want only the basic functions of a mobile device. The Nokia C2-01 is a great example.

This cellular device does not have all the bells and whistles of modern smart-phones. It has given up certain features such as Wi-Fi, a touchscreen, or a video-call camera. It does not pretend to be something other than what it is - a simple handset. It is conveniently pocket-sized, so it does not require a bag or purse to be carried around.

You can still take photos on the phone using the built-in 3.2 megapixel camera, as well as record videos, but the video quality is rather low when viewing it from a television or computer screen. It also requires a microSD card to be purchased separately in order to have enough space to store photos and videos, since the cellular device itself has limited storage space. Buying a card will give you up to 16 GB of extra space as needed.

Although this device doesn't boast much technological functions, it does have one interesting feature, and that is its 3G connectivity. This add-on allows users to download applications quicker using the "Ovi Store". Facebook users will like the preloaded Facebook application that can be used to update statuses and get friends' reports. It is not however, ideal to use the phone for surfing the web since the screen is rather small, but finding this feature on other phones of similar price will be rare indeed.

The buttons on the keypad are unexaggerated and easy to use. The material with which they are made gives the user an obvious feeling of simplicity since it is of rather poor quality.

Transferring data from the mobile phone to your computer is made easier with its mini USB port. This also makes it possible to charge the device right from your computer. You can also connect headphones to it using the 3.5 mm socket. If you prefer to charge the phone the traditional way, it also includes a wall charger which connects to a port on the device.

This mobile device is budget-friendly throughout and can be bought with a pay-as-you-go plan for a lower price than other devices. It is available under this plan by many mobile service providers, and is ideal for those don't want to enter into a contract.

The Nokia C2-01 is not to be compared with current smart-phones advertised by such companies as Samsung or LG, but in terms of getting a lot for your dollar, this phone should be seriously considered. When put alongside other simple handsets, it will not disappoint those who expect a quality phone with advanced technology.
