Ways Hosted PBX Can Make Communication In A Business More Reliable

By Ernest B. Fondren

Businesses that require several different phone lines to operate their business will often use a PBX or hosted PBX system. There is a single primary line that the business uses and then there are many other extensions or branches that hook up to the main line. When a business utilizes this kind of system they do not have to have several different phone lines run into the building. Even with multiple extensions on the same line, there are no busy signals and the many lines to do not interfere with each other. When the customer calls the primary line, the call can easily be directed to the correct extension.

When this type of system is used over an internet connection or VoIP it is known as a hosted PBX. Many companies prefer this type of service because it means that they can make all of their calls through an internet connection, and if necessary they can use the phone from any location that has access to the internet. These are usually more affordable to install and maintain because no additional equipment is needed aside from a computer and an internet connection.

This kind of service is required because it is simpler for a business to be able to supply one telephone number to their customers. This eliminates the confusion that could be created with several different phone numbers floating around. With only one number, customers can call and then be directed to the appropriate extension without having to worry about calling the wrong person or department.

With a hosted PBX system, each extension might be given its own voice mail box for directing missed calls. The person or department that belongs to the extension will then be able to accept messages from missed calls. Separate voice mail boxes eliminate the confusion of having a main voice mail box that needs to be sorted. Folks will be able to receive their own messages and respond to them in a timely manner.

If a business has several different phone lines associated with them, this reduces the changes that customers will hear a busy signal when calling the main line. Hosted PBX can enhance communication as well as decrease costs when included in a business' phone system. With separate business voice mail boxes available with each extension, employees can communicate with each other and respond to messages from customers in a timely fashion. Integrating this type of system into a business can improve communication across all aspects of the business.
