By Bryan Santos

If you're like most people, you have had a cellphone now for about 10 years or so. But here's some news: the iPhone is not like any cellphone you have had before. It truly is a revolutionary item, and if you are using it like other phones, you are missing out. Keep reading for tips to help you see what you can really do with the iPhone.

In order to take advantage of the iPhone's ability to make your life easier, be sure to investigate applications that utilize GPS technology to provide you with the locations of nearby gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants. Doing so will help you save time on all of your errands no matter where you happen to be.

If you are concerned about scratching your iPhone's glass, invest in a screen protector and a case for your device. Screen protectors can keep all but the deepest scratches from ever touching your iPhone front screen, and a case protects your iPhone's back glass and sides from getting scuffed.

If you use certain words and terms a lot that take up a lot of time to type, the best thing to do would be to add shortcuts. You can do this in the Settings section of your phone. For example, "SYL" can be used for "see you later." Typing those three letters will prompt the phone to type out the entire phrase.

Turn on character count in your text message settings. Not everyone has an iphone. A simple tweak in the settings will turn on your word count. Leaving the SMS character count visible on your phone will help you be more considerate when texting friends or family without iphones of their own.

Use your phone horizontally when you are inputting data. It is easy to forget, but the keys are much larger when the phone is horizontal, so it is so much easier to accurately input text. If you do not already have that capability on your phone, you can get the application from Safari.

Enable restrictions. If someone young is using the iphone, you can set mature content restriction. Alternatively, you may have some content you don't want anyone else happening upon. You can set a restriction on particular pieces of content to make sure no one other than yourself has access to them.

It is easy to save an image from Safari on your iPhone. When you are on the image you want, tap and hold down on the image. A message will come up, asking you if you want to "Cancel" or "Save Image". Obviously, you will want to pick the "Save Image" option.

You can easily get driving directions from your iPhone's Map application. You can use the Bookmark button for your starting points, ending points, contacts, and recent locations. The first thing you should do with this application is bookmark your address in order to find directions to and from your location. This can make your navigation much quicker and easier.

Use your iphone to listen to almost any radio station across the country. There are a couple of applications that allow you to do this which include iheart and Pandora. It is great because you have the ability to chose from genre or region, and have access to almost every type of music out there.

To get the most from Siri, use this tip to assign nicknames and relationships for each of your contacts. For example, you can tell Siri, "Jane Johnson is my mother." Siri will then request confirmation to link this information to Jane's contact number. Now, you can tell Siri to "Call Mom," and she will automatically bring up your mother's phone number.

Never let an idea slip your mind again. With the notes' application, you can take notes on your phone and make sure that the great ideas you have throughout the day are written somewhere. You can even email them to yourself to ensure that they are in a safe place.

Aren't you impressed with everything the iPhone can do? Having an iPhone is something that can be a lot of fun and really help you live your life more easily. There are so many things you can do that it is really an indispensable machine. Use the tips in this article to help you master this great tool.
